Ej. I read books. Books are read by me.

l have to study Maths. Maths has to be studied by me.

l will visit Mary. Mary will be visited by me. (you, him, her, us, you, them).

-Formas especiales.

1. Don't, doesn't didn't funcionan como una manera de llevar la negación, no se cuentan como verbos, luego al ver I didn't see John, no pensamos que see sea infinitivo, sino pasado negativo, por lo tanto la pasiva sería, John wasn't seen by me.

2. Formas con that. I said that John was there. It was said that John was there. We consider that he is a wise man. He is considered to be a wise man.(normalmente si el verbo que va tras that está en presente o futuro el verbo en pasiva tras el TO será infinitivo, pero si tras that hay un presente perfecto un pasado o tiempos "hacia atrás" entonces tras TO tendremos un presente perfecto, como en la frase de John.....).

3. I like John to clean my bike. l like my bike to be cleaned by John. I want Susan to tidy my room. l want my room to be tidied by Susan.

He let me go. I was allowed to go.

Estilo Indirecto (Reported Speech)

Susan says "l have to study" Susan says that she has to study (cambian los pronombres pero no los verbos, no van tiempo atrás porque says no indica tiempo atrás.

Susan said "I have to study" Susan said that she had to study.

2 . Questions . He asked me "what is your name? He asked me what my name was, Fíjate en la posición del verbo en estilo indirecto, el verbo va tras el sujeto de la oración unida, la razón es que no hay pregunta, fíjate en el comienzo de la frase en estilo indirecto, habitualmente ninguna pregunta en inglés que tenga un sujeto comienza sin inversión, o sea, sin poner el verbo auxiliar o modal antes del sujeto.

3. Cornmands (órdenes) He told me "Go there and don't return". He told (ordered) me to go there and not to return.

Ejemplo: John said "don't call the police" "I am not angry any more" "Where is my gun?" John told (me) not to call the police because /and he said that /and added that.... he wasn't angry any more and asked /wanted to know where his gun was.

Mike told me “If I were you I would go to the doctor”

Mike told me to go to the doctor.

Puede regir gerundio o that. Sigamos con el mismo ejemplo de arriba:

He suggested going to the doctor. He suggested that I went to the doctor.

Condicionales (0,1,2,3,y mixta);

Recuerda que would puede ser sustituido por could, might,....

I don't have a pencil so I won't write

2nd; If I had a pencil I would/might/could write.

Ej: I didn't get money so I didn't go on holiday. If i had got money I would/could/might have gone on holiday.

- Variantes.

You don't come so I will stay at home.

Unless you come I will stay at home.

Una trampa seria una frase positiva.

You come so I will go with you.

Unles s ( no podemos decir you don't come) you stay at home I will go with you, o le damos la vuelta, Unless you come I won't go with you.

-If puede ser sustituido por In case, providing, as long as, provided that, when , ...... etc, cualquier expresión que signifique lo mismo.

-Mezcla o condicional mixta.

I didn't win the lottery so 1 don't have money. If I had won the lottery I would have money.

Condicionales introducidas por Had o Should . (Para segunda o tercera condicional)

I didn't go so I didn't see you.

Had I gone I would have seen you.

Should I have gone I would have seen you.

Modales.

Obligación have to, must, Necesidad o carencia de ella:, don't have to, need (you don't need to come, you needn't come), Sugerencia: should, ought to. Deberías estudiar, you should study, you ought to study (atento al to de ought, puede aparecer como trampa, buscan ought en lugar de should, al ser menos conocido), You'd rather study, You'd better study..

-Modales perfectos . Deberías haber estudiado You should have studied.

Esta triste, debe haber suspendido (deducción) He must have failed.

Podrías haber ido con ellos (pero no fuiste) You could have gone.

Formas Used to:

Used to/accustomed to -Solía-used to (indica que ya no lo haces), va seguido de infinitivo. Sólo cuando used equivale a solía, cuando va solo.

When I was a kid I used to ride my bike everywhere.

-be/get/become........................used to/accustomed to estar acostumbrado o acostumbrándote a algo.

I am (becoming/getting/growing) used/accustomed to going home on foot.

I have grown/become/got used/accustomed to going home on foot. (me he acostumbrado).

Una variante sería un would con ningún sentido condicional, sino con el significado de used to. When I was a kid I would go fishing with my father every now and then.

Estructuras de subjuntivo.

I wish If only I'd rather (I/you/he ... would rather) It's (almost, high, nearly) time I'd better, I'd sooner

You don't have a cat(no tienes) You didn't have a cat. (no tenías) I wish you had a cat (ojala tuvieras) I wish you had had a cat.

Would prefer, seguido de infinitivo. TO) I'd (would) prefer to play football to (play) basketball

I'd rather play football than basketball.

I'd sooner play football than basketball I'd better play football than basketball

Causativos

Have/make/get

Me hizo ir al médico.

He had me go to the doctor.

He made me go to the doctor.

He got me to go to the doctor.

Expresiones causativas:

He danced the night away.

He pushed the door open.

He beat his brother into tears.

He jumped into sinking the boat. He jumped the boat sunk.

Causativas con matices pasivos:

I had a plumber fix my pipes. I had my pipes fixed (to be fixed) by a plumber.

Inversiones

Ejemplo:I rarely speak English.

Rarely do I speak English.

Never-under no circumstances-ln no occasion

Doy ejemplos:

-1 will never go, Never will I go.

-She never goes to school.

Never does she go to school.

-You can barely study.

Seldom can you study,

También cabe mencionar Only by o Not only como comienzos habituales de inversiones.

Cuidado con las distracciones:

You will only succeed if you finish the race, no matter what happens.

No matter what happens, only by finishing the race will you succeed.

Conectores

Besides, furthermore, moreover, in addition to this: los 4 son formas de decir AND con otras palabras.

Ej, I went there and bought some food, I went there, besides I bought some food (además).

Comienzo y final de redacción: to start with, to begin with, to finish with, summarizing, summing up, to conclude.....

Otherwise (sin embargo), as far as I am concerned, by the time (para cuando......)

-In spite of raining, despite being there (a pesar de la lluvia, a pesar de estar allí). In spite of es ligeramente diferente a despite, que jamás lleva of, ambas formas pueden ir seguidas de nombre pero conectándolas con la forma the fact that.

Although he was sad he went to the party.

In spite of/despite being sad he went to the party. In spite of /despite the fact that he was sad he went to the party.

In addition to funciona igual.

Since: puesto que: Since he is here, we can all go together.

Unlike: a diferencia de Unlike his father, he is such a talented musician.

Yet: aún así. Mike wants to be a footballer, yet he still needs to practise a lot.

-Neither nor-ni,ni He doesn't like football, Susan doesn't like football.

Neither he nor Susan likes football.

He doesn't like football, he doesn't like basketball.

He likes.............neither football nor basketball.

Formas tipo first

-I've never been to England before

It's ...............................................(the first time I've been to England ).

-He was such a big boy that frightened everybody.

The boy .............................................(was so big that he frightened everybody).

-He is too taIl to enter.

(enough).............................(He isn't small enough to enter).

-He has been learning English for 2 months.

(ago).................................(He started learning English 2 months ago).

-I haven't had curry for a long time.

It's................................................(a long time since I last had curry).

-I've never heard such a beautiful song.

It's...........................................(the most beautiful song I've ever heard).

Otras

Ej. Fishing is something that I love. I am interested in working there.

-pasado perfecto y pasado simple.

Ej. Antes de que comieras visitaste al médico. Before you had lunch you had visited the doctor.

-Estructuras no traducibles importantes en redacción.

Quiero que vayas. I want you to go (no usar: I want that you come).

Quiero que me escribas. I want you to write to me,

I feel thirsty after walking a lot. It is .............after walking a lot that I feel thirsty.
